Hanna Ranch Elementary is a school dedicated to academic proficiency for all students. Our goal is to serve all of our students on a level that will challenge them and induce a creative approach to education that will serve them well as they continue along their path of life-long learning. Hanna Ranch is a school dedicated to building strong character. We understand that in order for our students to succeed in life they need to have the social skills to do so. At Hanna Ranch, we address all curriculum areas and utilize effective teaching strategies. We strive to maintain a safe, respectful environment, and to provide our students with the tools they need to become independent, contributing, responsible individuals.

October 30 Friday Update: Inside a Learning Suite at Michelle Obama School; Stay Safe this Weekend
We had an exciting week with the virtual grand opening of WCCUSD's newest school under a new name, the Michelle Obama School. Formerly known a Wilson Elementary, Michelle Obama School is one of the first flexible space schools in the Bay Area.

Possibly PG&E Power Outage Update
PG&E could shut off power starting Sunday due to a major weather event, including winds of up to 70 miles per hour. Currently, there no WCCUSD schools in the affected areas.

Happy National Principals Month. I want to introduce you to three of WCCUSD's fantastic principals Kim Moses (Ohlone ES), Charlotte Betson (Mira Vista K8) and Kibby Kleiman (Pinole Valley HS). Thank you to all of WCCUSD's school leaders.

October 2 Friday Update: Conditions Needed for WCCUSD To Re-Open School Buildings
Contra Costa County received good news related to COVID-19 with the state moving it from Purple to Red status, allowing more businesses and establishments to open. For WCCUSD to return to a phased-in school building reopening, all District zip codes must be in the Orange status and meet other criteria.

September 25 Friday Update: Your Help With Multipurpose Family Income Form
We need your help. Please complete the Multipurpose Family Income Form, regardless of income. It is a key piece to the budget and supports services that directly benefit students. Every family should complete the form. For families that don't qualify, you enter your name, check one box and that is it. Qualifying families it's just a few more steps.

September 18 Friday Update: Community Events; Facilities Master Plan Help; Redistricting Commission
We have a number of ways for the community, families, parents and students to get involved with the Facilities Master Plan's Prioritization Committee and Community Survey and Redistricting Commission.

Meal Pick up Change
Meal distribution is from 8 am to 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Due to the unhealthy air quality, we have changed the pick up process. We are now asking that the adult picking up the meal please follow the new signs at the location and to honk their horn when they reach the designated pick up spot and a member from the Nutrition Services team will come out and distribute the meals.

September 11 Friday Update: Wellness Fridays; End to a Strange and Difficult Week
The social emotional support for students, families and staff is of heightened importance in this distance learning environment and I want the community to know that resources and support are available through school health centers, school counselors, teachers, principals, school support staff and the District’s team led by Jodi Couick and new Special Education Director Kristen Hardy.

USDA extends its summer meal program, allowing all students to pick up meals and snacks at no charge
WCCUSD will resume features of its summer meal program allowing all students 18 years or younger to pick up breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks at no charge from 8 am to 1pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 15 school locations in the District.
